Basic Stitches

Here we’ll cover the basic stitches used throughout your crochet projects. I personally prefer US terms however I’ll pop both on the stitch title.

SINGLE CROCHET (UK DOUBLE)

To complete a single crochet insert your hook into the next chain/stitch, bring your yarn over your hook and pull a loop up through the chain/stitch to have 2 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through both loops. You now have a single crochet, check out the QuickVid below

HALF-DOUBLE CROCHET (UK HALF-TREBLE)

To complete a half-double crochet yarn over before inserting your hook into the next chain/stitch, yarn over and pull a loop up through the chain/stitch to have 3 loops on your hook, yarn over again and pull through all 3 loops, you now have a half-double crochet, check out the QuickVid below

DOUBLE CROCHET (UK TREBLE)

To complete a double crochet yarn over before inserting your hook into the next chain/stitch, yarn over and pull a loop up through the chain/stitch to have 3 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops to leave 2 loops on your hook, yarn over again and pull through the last 2 loops. You now have a double crochet, check out the QuickVid below

TREBLE CROCHET (UK DOUBLE TREBLE)

To complete a treble crochet yarn over twice before inserting your hook into the next chain/stitch, yarn over and pull a loop up through the chain/stitch to have 4 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops to have 3 left on your hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops again to have 2 loops left on your hook, yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops. You now have a treble crochet, check out the QuickVid below

I hope you enjoy my crochet creations, tutorials and free patterns. These all take time and love to create, if you’d like to support me by donating a coffee I would be most grateful 💕
