Square Waffle Stitch Blanket

The Square Waffle Stitch blanket is worked in a round.

Below are written instructions and picture guides.

I have used Caron simply soft yarn and a 6mm hook for the picture guides below.

STITCHES AND PATTERN INFO

• I have written this tutorial using US terms
• Double magic ring / magic ring – QuickVid tutorials available here
• Ch = chain
• Dc = double crochet – tutorial here
• Fpdc = front post double crochet – tutorial here
• Slst = slip stitch
• Chsp = chain space
• Ch3 at the beginning of each round counts as a DC throughout pattern

PATTERN – Written

Begin by creating a loop with your preferred method (double magic ring, magic ring, or ch4 slst into a ring)

1. Ch3, work 1 DC into the loop, ch1 (for the corner), 2 DC’s into the loop, ch1, 2 DC’s into the loop, ch1, 2 DC’s into the loop, ch1 slst to the top chain of the ch3 at the beginning. Turn and slst back into the corner chsp
2. Ch3, fpdc2, DC in chsp, Ch1 DC in same chsp, fpdc2, DC in chsp, Ch1, DC in same chsp, fpdc2, DC in chsp, Ch1, DC in same chsp, fpdc2, DC in chsp, ch1, slst to top ch3. Turn and slst back into the corner chsp
3. Ch3, DC in same chsp, fpdc, dc2, fpdc 2dc in chsp, Ch1, 2dc in same chsp, fpdc, dc2, fpdc, 2dc in chsp, Ch1, 2dc in same chsp, fpdc, dc2, fpdc, 2dc in chsp, Ch1, 2dc in same chsp, fpdc, dc2, fpdc, 2dc in chsp, Ch1, slst to top ch3. Turn and slst back into the corner chsp

The pattern follows a 2 row repeat, so to continue growing your blanket from here repeat rounds 4&5 until you reach your desired size
