Clusters & Crosses Fingerless Gloves

These pretty fingerless gloves are designed to match the Clusters & Crosses Shawl. Worked in the round from the bottom(wrist) up to the top(fingers). Built from a fairly simple repeating pattern that works up quite quickly. The pattern is suitable for confident beginners through to experienced crocheters. Available in sizes Child, Small Medium and Large

STITCHES AND PATTERN INFO

This pattern is written using US terms

  • Fdc = Foundation Dc (tutorial can be found at https://amethystorm.co.uk/foundation-stitch-tutorials/
  • Ch = Chain
  • Dc = Double crochet
  • Clu = 3dc cluster (tutorial can be found at https://amethystorm.co.uk/cluster-stitch/)
  • Chsp = Chain space
  • St = Stitch
  • Slst = slip stitch
  • XDc = X Dc’s in the next stitch
  • DcX = Dc in next X stitches
  • skx = skip x stitches
  • Rx = Round x
  • ()x = repeat instruction in bracket x times
  • ** in __ = stitches inside ** are worked in the same St/Chsp as noted after the *
  • {} = additional information for creating the next stitch
  • [] = stitch count
  • In all above instructions x counts as any number eg 2Dc, Dc10, sk5, R10
  • Ch3 at the start of each row counts as a Dc, Ch4 counts as Dc, Ch1, Ch5 counts as Dc, Ch2.

This pattern is worked in joined rounds all in the same direction.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

4mm Hook,

Dk yarn(weight3):

  1. Child – 65m
  2. Small – 85m
  3. Medium – 95m
  4. Large – 112m

GAUGE

  • 3Dc = 1.5cm length
  • 1Dc = 1.25cm height

SIZE INFO

  • Child 15cm circumference – Red instructions
  • Small 16.5cm circumference – Blue Instructions
  • Medium 19.5cm circumference – Purple instructions
  • Large 22.5cm circumference – Green instructions

PATTERN

Ensure to leave a tail long enough to use to join the gap and fasten off at the end.

1). Fdc 27[30, 36, 39], slst to 1st Fdc to create a ring

2). Ch3, (Dc in next st) 26[29, 35, 38] slst to 3rd Ch of Ch3

3). Ch5, {working backwards behind Ch5} sk 2 stitches of the last round, Dc in 3rd st {Pic1}, {working forwards} sk crossed stitches, Dc in 3rd unworked st {Pic2}, Ch2 {work behind Dc} sk 2 sts, Dc in Dc at the base of Ch5 {Pic3},

(sk crossed stitches, Dc in 3rd unworked st, ch2, {work behind Dc} sk 2 sts, Dc in same st as previous Dc) 6[7, 9, 10],

sk crossed stitches and next 2sts, Dc in same st as 2nd Dc of the round, ch2, {work behind Dc} sk 2 sts, Dc in same st as previous Dc, slst to 3rd Ch of Ch5 {Pic4}

4). Ch2, Clu in sp between sts at base of ch2, ch2, sk crossed stitches, (Clu in sp between sts, ch2, sk crossed stitches)8[9, 11, 12], slst to top of first Clu.

16). Ch3, (Dc in ch2sp, Dc in sp between sts, Dc in ch2sp, 2Dc in sp between sts) 4, Dc in ch2sp Dc in sp between sts, [5 omit last Dc of the repeat, 6 omit last Dc of the repeat, 6, Dc in ch2sp, Dc in sp between sts], slst to top ch3.

[23, 25, 30, 33 Dc]

Fasten off and weave in ends. Finish off foundation row by joining the gap using your tail and fasten off.
